We just put Chloe down. 
This has just been a nightmare past month/two months. Sunday morning, I noticed that Chloe was having probs with her hind end - she was "wobbling" and almost went down a few times leading her from the field. Thought she might have reinjured her stifle injury from way back when. Gave her some Bute, rubbed some liniment on her back/stifle/etc. Checked on her all day into the night - wobbles not much better and was "drawn up". I had called the vet on Sun and he thought it might be the stifle and adv me to watch her and gave me things to watch out for to call him. Monday am she was not any better, seemed to be in pain, called vet and asked him to come. He came out and diagnosed a neurologic issue - most likely EPM. We tried Marquis, DMSO IV, dexamethasone, Bute, she was pretty much on everythign that we could think of to try and stablize her (tests being run etc). She went down hill pretty fast and at lunch today she was down and couldn't get up (or she couldn't get her hindquarters under her). The vet came out and euthanized her at around 1 pm. He has taken the brain for testing for rabies/encephalyts etc, although we both believe that it was EPM. She has been vacinated (of course she could always have had a bad shot).
We had just used our only dose of Veneziano semen on her on Thurs.
Her foal from this year, Sera, is doing well. I actually pulled her out of the stall last night as I was afraid Chloe would go down.

OH NO!! Anissa, I am so very sorry to hear that, Chloe seemed like such a nice mare. My condolences go out to you.

Thank you for giving her a loving and safe home. She got to have a gorgeous filly - she got to be a mother. It's going to be a very tearful night for us both.
RIP Seet Chloe at Emerald Acres.

Heather - I keep saying it can't get worse and then it does. I almost hate going to the barn as I'm afraid of what I will find.

Anissa, I am SO sorry to hear this. {{Hugs}} from Texas and know the tears are flowing here, too. What a wonderful mare and if there's a silver lining anywhere, you have her daughter to carry on in her stead.
I join Heather in wishing you a much better 2nd half of 2008. The first has been far too stressful, sad. Pls. know that your TK family is with you and we will help in any way you need.

All the horses are (for right now - I feel like I have to constantly knock wood and qualify that now) doing great.
Val is improving everyday and already sick of being in a stall. Allie is outside bucking and galloping around - she still has to have a wrap on her leg, but she is really doing exceptionally well. She may have a touch of proud flesh - but considering what the wound LOOKED like,....
I spent a long time with the babies tonight - they will MAKE you smile and poor Patty is trying her best to comfort Sera.

So, so sorry, Anissa.
The past few months have been just terrible for you. But, like Suzette said, these things seem to come in batches and I am praying that you'll have a much happier, healthier, and peaceful remainder of the season...

I cannot tell all of y'all how much I am humbled and thankful for the amount of support and caring that has been extended the last few days. My phone has been busy, my email is overflowing, and the posts here and on COTH... I just can't tell you how much it helps! Everything from Joe offering to come up and help me bury her (and calling me and mom several times yesterday just to check on us), Kumi for all the support and a shoulder the past couple of days, Siegi (who has gone so far above and beyond anything that she should have or could have done - really a class act horse owner, friend, and stallion owner), and Karri for just letting me vent about it all Monday and Tues. So many others that have offered support, understanding, etc... really, I was floored.
Chloe was buried this morning. Sera and Patty finally slept today and are quiet now. I"m about to go out and turn them out tonight for the first time.
Tomorrow we find out if I have any foals coming next year or not - Tanz will be checked. I don't have much hope, but it sure would be nice to have some GOOD news for once!

It has to right LM???
Last night when I put Sera and Patty out (they haven't been out because of this and/or the weather since Friday), they both just kind of walked around for a few mins. Then Patty TOOK OFF and was bucking/squealing/farting etc. Sera stopped for a second with her ears up, then TOOK OFF with her. Both of the fillies were racing each other and were mirror images of each other around the paddock. When one would do a roll back and spin the other direction the other one would, when one would buck, the toher one would... tails STRAIGHT up in the air. There were one or two "near misses" where they almost colided.  This went on for about 10 mins and I have to say that I was laughing out loud at their antics. Thank God for babies!

I am so happy to hear that you are laughing. Forget the work and pull up a lawn chair and sit and enjoy your babies. They stay babies for such a short time. Let your Mom pamper you; I know under the same circumstances, I'd enjoy doing it for my daughter.

VERY, VERY tentavily optimistic news for Tanz. She is 16 or 17 days along today. She had a 20 mm embryo (nice little round dot on us) on the left side. She does have fluid on the right though (minimal amount) and with her history and with my luck lately we are going to recheck next week to see if it is increasing or not just to BE SURE it is actually a pregnancy. So one more week of breath holding. Please oh Please hold on and let it be a preg!!!
Karri Henning has a confirmed preg check today also on Dove (Hailo/T'bred) to Oskar at day 15.
