SOnndance (Tamino x Savanna) had a HUGE colt Wednesday at 11:20 AM.
He's a bit windswept, and a bit up on his tippy toe on the front left, but as soon as I can I'll start him on Rejuvenaide. He's SO BIG, though, that I'm not surprised about the hid legs. I knoew she was cooking a big'un in there, but he is just SO TALL...
Haven't settled on a name, yet. I've read that "Schonn" is a name of German origin meaning "handsome". Not a WORD, but an actual name. I've also found several words I like...but my daughter is determined we name him "Stanley". Sigh.

If memory serves me right, all of this year's foals have similar face marks. He is big and beautiful. The now deceased stallion, Schonfeld; his name means beautiful field.

Yes...it's strange, but 3 of the 4 Wicklow foals have that little "lightening bolt" star. Tansy's filly has just a wee sprinkling of a star. The colt that was stillborn in April (the same day we had to euthanize Wick), had a HUGE blaze, a white lower lip, and two hind whites over the hock. But the filly he had out of a TB mare in Kansas this spring has that lightening bolt star as well. So, he had 4 of 6 with that marking.
Markings aside, these babies are all fantastic, and although it will be hard to part with any of them, I am already SO attached to "Spot", Alabama's colt, that it kills me to think of selling him. He follows me around like a puppy...nickers to me, leaves his momma to come and play and get scratches. I adore him. He has the best temperament.
Tansy's filly is rotten...not to me, but BOY does she torment her mother!! 80% of her time is spent bucking and kicking at mom trying to get her to play! I tell the poor old mare that Karma has kicked into full gear with that one
Ada's filly is a brick sh*%house. She has the most powerful build I've ever seen on a foal...she is beefier than the quarter horse foals I've seen around here, and taller. Plus, she has the prettiest head of all of them. She's very quiet and reserved, for the most part.
And Sonny's new colt is already showing a tendency to be a pocket pony like Spot. He is very curious, and afraid of nothing. His momma is the sweetest, do-anything-for-you kind of mare, too, though. She's a sweetheart, and her babies just seem to pick up those tendencies.
Add to the "herd" of 2008 babies my January filly by my other TB stallion Blessed Trinity and out of Lobelia and I think it's been a pretty good year, aside from the tragedy of losing Wick and his colt. I am very, very blessed to have several healthy, happy mares and 5 wonderful babies.

Schön means beautiful, so I guess if you're talking about a male, it could be translated handsome. Actually, I think handsome would be Hübsch. (Maren? Anyone? My German is very rusty.)
But he is a handsome fellow, however you say it.

Congratulations on a big, strong boy Joie. I may be in the minority, but kind of like your daughter's name for him. There was a very famous eventer (Maren, was he TB?) named Stan the Man . . . could always register him that way and . . . VOILA . . daughter gets her "Stanley"!

Now that I"m reentering the world of the "outside" - Joie, he is beautiful. Congrats. I know that you are thrilled with your Wicklow crop and it does help to have sometihing of him on the ground I'm sure (although nothign can replace him).
Joy is correct about "schoen" vs "hubsch" (I don't have umlauts on my computer so forgive me). You can take litterary license though I'm sure!
