PINK!!!!

Just had to share my trip to the tack store today with the crowd. I (as I have mentioned) live in Topanga, CA, which is just down the road from a town called Calabassas. Well, Calabassas is "Malibu in the Valley," all upscale to the core. I think the average house price is significantly in excess of $1M (even the condos) and almost everyone has "help" of some kind. The lines going into the gated communities each AM remind me of driving in Bev Hills!
Calabassas is also the closest and most convenient tack shop to me. So, when the rains came this week and the young horses stressed out (2 year old jumped out of stall, 3 year old pacing and not eating, etc) I went off to supplement my rain sheet inventory and avoid any emergency colic calls. I was able to pick up 3 nice sheets for reasonable prices, however, the third sheet (size 66 for the kids) came in pink or baby blue! OK, not my choice but cheaper than colic surgery. Off I go with the baby blue (for the coming yearling Summertime colt whom I have stable named "Mister" because he just has a lot of presence and always did). Well, everyone else was ok with the clothing thing but Mister was NOT going to let that light colored ghost near him!!! Since the sheet was actually too big and he was the least stressed of the lot, I said "Whatever" and put it away to return.
So, today I went to return the baby blue sheet to the store in Calabassas. As I walked up to the store entrance, I passed a full sized horse statue with a full sized PINK rain sheet on, passed the row of "Smart Cart" muck wheelbarrels (two of which were PINK) and noticed the three step PINK mounting block in inventory on the entry porch. Earlier this year, they were displaying jumps with PINK jump standards (yes, PINK)!
I have to say, I was happy to return the baby blue sheet (Mister was insulted!) because I just don't need a baby blue (or PINK) rain sheet in my inventory. And horsekeeping in Calabassas must be much different from Topanga where I dress in mud boots and don't even have a PINK plastic fork!!! I wondered where the matching PINK pony snap-on faces for the designer cell phones were located (I was afraid to look or ask for fear that they had some in stock).
PINK!!!! Go figure!!
Maybe I am just secretly jealous of all those little girls buying pink horsey stuff. After all, when Mom and Dad sold my pony during a bout of illness when I was in 6th grade without my knowlege, I was told that I would outgrow this........NOT!!! But I guess that I have outgrown the PINK thing!!!!! Or... I just don't want to insult my mighty, noble Trakehners by making them wear......... PINK!!!
