I love Trakehners!
|
So last night I got home late (Child Protective Services at it's finest - holidays mean LONG hours normally!), it was around 7 or so (had left at around 7 am) and pitch dark. I go inside, change clothes etc and go outside about 30 mins later... Only to see a horse loose in the yard (I have 5 acres with a premiter fence, and paddocks so if something gets out of a paddock they aren't going too far, but it does make everyone jealous).
Lo and behold it is Tate (20 1/2 month old stud colt). Smart boy had managed to open the gate (or dumb mom hadn't locked it properly - we'll go with smart horse ).
Apparently he didn't get too wound up as there weren't divets in the grass or anything and I walked right up to him with no halter and he was all like "hey mom, I think I did something, but I'm not quite sure what it was!" I patted him on the neck then walked back towards his paddock to get his halter. HE FOLLOWED ME!!! No halter, no lead, no hand on him, nothing, just followed me all the way back to the paddock, then inside the paddock. He got BIG pats for his goodness.
It is so easy to forget sometimes that he has "equipment", he is just a good boy.
