Hi all!
We have had some updates to the forum software in the last few weeks. I have implemented a change that should help people looking for information on Trakehners find it, and should help each of you with farms and stallions to promote.
All of the posts made in the general area (not the ATA members-only area) can now be indexed by the search engines. That means, for example, that if we have a thread on the boards about a certain bloodline, and someone searches on Google or one of the other engines on that bloodline, the thread from this forum should be returned in the listings. Likewise, if someone looks up a farm or a stallion mentioned in threads here, the thread should turn up in the search engine results.
What does this mean for you?
Well, many of you have a signature block on your posts promoting your stallion or your farm. If you aren't using the signature block, you should. It is good promotion for you!
Anyway, most of you who use the signature block include a link to your own website. Therefore, every thread on which you post, and which includes your signature link, should help you get more links in the search engines. Which should result in better rankings for you and more traffic for your website.
Likewise, any link that is placed in the body of a post is also "hot." Because of the indexing of the discussion threads by the search engines, sites that are linked from the body also get additional placements in the engines.
So the new changes I have made to the forum software, and the signature blocks and linking capabilities, should help you with promoting your websites.
Now I ask one thing in return:
Go to your websites and check your links pages. If you don't have a link to the forums, please include one. The coding is <a href="http://atrakehner.com/ttp.html">Trakehner Treffpunkt</a> or <a href="http://atrakehner.com/yabbs">Trakehner Forums</a>.
With these changes, we can all make it easier to find information about our Trakehners for people searching online!

I LOVE Trakehners!

What a true Trakehner friend you are! I wish I had a farm or stallion to promote (but I love my mares). Congratulations for all your hard work in doing so much to promote Trakehners!

Well, guys, since I tweaked the forum back in July, when I made the post above, Google has indexed 12,300 pages of these Forums!
SO, as outlined above, people have another way to find information on YOU and YOUR HORSES when you post on these forums with a link (or a signature profile link)!
Many posters here have over 100 forum pages linking to their websites. The record is for one particular website, that has well over 4500 forum pages linking to it!
I am glad to help surfers find Trakehner resources by allowing search engine-indexable links from the forum, and glad that it has worked so well.
Now the gentle reminder part of the post: I will ask once more, those of you who offer a link to your website on these forums give a reciprocal link on your site to the forums, preferably on either your main page or from your "links" page that is accessible from your main page.
What you may not realize is that by giving links to all of your websites, these forums lose part of their "ranking power." It works sort of like a bucket of water....when you link out, you pour a glass, and need another glass poured back from somewhere else to stay full (and able to pour more glasses for others).
And glasses poured from the fullest buckets are the most valuable to the glass-holders. So, in the sort of "karma concept" of the Internet, if you get links from a source and don't give links back, essentially you are emptying not only "the bucket" but are making the glasses that others receive from that bucket less valuable.
And sadly, at the moment, most of the websites that have the highest numbers of forum pages pointing to them do not have a link back to the forums.
SO, everyone, please include reciprocal links. This is the link code you need:
Go to your websites and check your links pages. If you don't have a link to the forums, please include one. The coding is <a href="http://atrakehner.com/ttp.html">Trakehner Treffpunkt</a> or <a href="http://atrakehner.com/yabbs">Trakehner Forums</a>.
LINK BACK -- Be fair to the forums and your fellow posters so that I can continue to offer the benefits of forum links to everyone!

Teach me Trakehners
|
I'm guessing everybody's busy for the holidays, but I think in fairness to Trakehner Treffpunkt, it's worth taking just a couple of minutes to add the link. I doubt that my link will be of much value, because it's just a family link that probably nobody sees (more like a teaspoon of water, than a cup). Still, if you're thirsty . . .
