Happy to announce that the mare that gave our syndikat its name,, Fontana di Trevi xx, delivered her first foal last weekend. A bay colt by Artistic Rock (Rockefeller - Seeadler). We're very pleased, and want to wish everybody else all the best for your foals!!

I now see why Kerstin was so excited.  Great lines and absolutely lovely neck!  Congrats to you, Kerstin and of course Fontana!

It is very hard for me to put this into words. Fortunas died today in a pasture accident (broken neck is prelim. info, postmortem is in progress). Fortunas was special because he symbolized Kerstin's and my grand future dreams, and because he was an "old soul", more so than any other foal I've ever met. He had this rare combo of the "look" along with impeccable manners, which clearly made him stand out of the herd. Nobody knows what could have been, and I feel at such a loss for words now....as Kerstin said, her day of tears ends in Hamburg and mine here on the other end of the world begins...

We hope he's finding our Fuchsi now. The colt that "got lost" two years ago, you guys probably remember that from this forum as well.

Please go and hug your critters and enjoy them while you can. And my heart also goes out to Terri (starrynight) who lost her mare Dhalia yesterday, to a colic and in foal for 2008. Seems like this year has brought more than its share of misery to my friends and now us.

Godspeed Fortunas

I'm so sorry.  My condolences to all.  It's so hard to lose them, whether we lose them at birth or before or when we love them for a lifetime, be it short or long.

I'm so sorry.

I'm so sorry, Maren.  He was such a beautiful colt.  I'm stunned.  I do remember the colt that "got lost".  Breeding and raising horses are not for the faint of heart. Cry

Cry OH Maren, I am so sorry for your loss.  It is never easy to loose a loved one (be it two legged or four) no matter when they leave us.

CryMaren, I'm at a loss for words, I just wanted to let you know my heart sank when I read of your loss.  I can only shake my head in sadness for you, and hope that someway through the tears, your heart will find it's way to healing.  Life just simply never seems fair in moments like this...
I'm so sorry for you, Maren.  I wish your heart to heal  day by day.

I'm so sorry ,Maren ,how tragic .Horses can be so fragile I pray for their safety everyday .Never know what could happen .My mom used to say "haeng Dein Herz nicht an ein Pferd es lebt nicht so lang" means "Don't get attached too much to your animal since it might not live long enough .But she did and was full of tears each time a horse would die.6 months after our very first Trakehner passed away (Tjabine mother of Tapferkeit by Avignon) at age 33 years my mom died ,she was heartbroken about it since also it was the last living animal my Dad had bought in 1975.i believe there is a heaven for our horses and we'll see them again ,God promised there won't be no tears" I wipe them away "otherwise I would be too depressed.I feel with you.

Maren - My sincere condolences on the loss of your colt.  Words can never adequately express one's sympathy at a time like this -- only to say you are not alone and hopefully time will help to heal your heart.  Godspeed.

Maren,  My heart goes out to you and Terri! Huh  Having lost more than one specialfirend in the past, I understand your pain.  My husband and I have begun a tradition.... when we lose a special friend we always go out, buy a nice bottle of champagne and toast to "The magic and the memories."  This always helps me keep the good times and the magic that I shared with my equine friend at the forefront of my thoughts.  It makes me focus on the magic that we shared in those special moments.

If you need a horse hug, my Summertime colt is only a few minutes away in Topanga.  He is open to love and hugs any time.

Maren, I know we've been in touch since your loss but again I am so sorry about your young one......and Fuchsi is definately not forgotten either!

I had Fuschsi on my mind when I went visiting some farms in Germany with the British girls.

Terri! I didn't know! I'm so truly sorry to hear about Dahlia......

It has been a very hard year for many........take care girls.
