I love Trakehners!

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the board and thought I would introduce myself with the addition of Weyka's photo on the board. My name is Amy Denny and I have a small boarding and breeding business in Hutto, Texas called "Timber Ghost Stables". Weyka is the 2nd Trakehner I have bred and hopefully there are lots more to come. We also just started breeding some Dutch as well.
Just wanted to share with everyone a picture of my Kovington / Saxon / Condus filly from 2004. The picture attached is of Weyka at 1 year old. She will be at the 2007 convention for inspection. She also took Reserve Champion of the Mares and Fillies at the ADS Breed Show in Arkansas this year. I am a very proud owner and can't wait to get this filly under saddle and get my Trakehner breeding program off the ground soon. Her best gait is her canter by far!
Enjoy!!!

Lovely filly by a tremendous performance sire. If I may make one small correction to your post. Her sire is now correctly knows as Kovington *Ps* - our newest Performance Silver stallion.
Can't wait to meet you and your filly @ the convention.

Hi Everyone, I am looking forward to meeting new folks as well.
I left out her dam's information. She is out of Whispering Hope (OSB Trakehner) by Saxon
Whispering Hope has produced 6 Trakehners to date, 3 colts from Martini (not less than 16.3 hands), 1 colt from Pregelstrand (spelling) (17 hands), 1 colt from Kostolony and 1 filly by Kovington.
The vet expects this filly to grow to about 16.2 hands. We just xrayed her knees to make sure they were closed as she has been a late bloomer and the vet said she still has an inch or two to put on the long bone. Not too worried about height with this filly and my long legs.
Yes, I am extremely thrilled to see Kovington receive his performance designation. He is a wonderful horse. I love to see Trakehners out there doing it all.

Yup, that's the Toni look I've come to appreciate. He still is in my memory from his approval way back, best "sit" I've seen at an annual meeting since I'm attending them
Weyka, I wish you all the best with your filly, get her out there to do as daddy does!! We'll be eagerly awaiting the good news

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.
I plan on putting Weyka in training next year as I am growing my human family right now. I have a few trainers to pick from, 1 here in Texas, 1 in Wellington and 1 on the east coast. I am not certain where to send her but I believe before I begin to breed her that she needs to reach PSG at least in dressage. I think getting a performance designation for her will make her babies all that more valuable in the future.
Though to be honest, I am very anxious to breed her. I do toy with breeding her next spring, get a foal and then do the performance and showing for her.
Any thoughts from all you breeders out there? I would totally value your input on this decision.
Thanks again!!!
I look forward to meeting everyone. I will be at the Thursday night dinner.

Go with performance first. Knowing how she moves under saddle and where she excels will help you choose her future "boyfriend".

Weyka just starting her formal training. Being lunged. Has not been officially backed yet. She foaled a beautiful filly in April of 2009 by Oskar so very out of shape. She is starting her training with Jenna Stern of Olympus Sport Horses. She is being lunged in this video. Under saddle to come next year. So the mare is very out of shape and very green.
Enjoy!

I'm excited about her really getting going! Right now we are working through some stiffness, etc. Her movement is not what it should be. She actually moves better than what you see in the video. I know having a baby is never good on a back and also this cold wet weather here in Central Texas is not helping stiffness:)
Look for more videos as we progress.
Should be getting one up of her foal soon too. Very different movement than Mom!
Thanks for the nice comments.
