Esprit's First Breed Show of the Year
« on: August 13, 2007, 07:07:48 AM »

The Esprit caravan just went to our first sport horse breed show of the year. I don't know what I was thinking. We took seven horses. I have many friends that came to help out. The kids were all very well behaved and in several causes it was the first time trailering and showing for them. Here are the results.

Donaudiva, by Timotheus out of Donaumädchen by Bütow - Fillies of 2007, 1st 81.2%

Diva was a show princess! She was so bold she led the way with her mother following behind! Her trot was so big I had a little trouble keeping up! She got called back for the Filly Championship class. She thought what the judge wanted to see in that class was her canter so unfortunately she didn't place but as I led her out past the judge he couldn't help but say what a really nice filly she was.

Donauseraph, by Tradition *Pb* out of Donautänzerin by Hadrian - Yearling Fillies, 2nd 79.3%

Seraph went to shows last year so she knew what it was all about. She showed very well and also got called back for the Filly Championship class but unfortunately didn't place. I found it hard to split my attention between Diva and Seraph for that class so they probably could have done better.

Psaltery, by Tradition *Pb* out of Pscilla by Pregelstrand *Ps*E* - Yearling Fillies, 3rd 69.7%

This was Salty's first time trailering and her first show. She was a little tense and thus tight in the back but she was a very good girl to handle. She is actually one of my favorites. She is so pretty but she's a little intense and needs more exposure to things to learn to relax a bit more. She never did anything wrong but she moves better at home where she knows what to expect.

Sagenhaft, by Tradition *Pb* out of Symphonic by Hailo *Pg*E* - Two year old Colts, 3rd 74.7%

This is Sage's third year going to shows. He thinks they're great fun! I'll be presenting him for stallion inspection at some point. He's a very nice boy! I can't show the trot he really has in hand, I can't run that fast!

Feiertag, by Tradition *Pb* out of Froehliebchen by Donauschimmer - Two year old Colts, 5th 71.1%

This is also Feier's third year showing. I take the two stud colts together on the trailer and they hang out and chat. They are pasture buddies. As my herd grows I've made the tough decision to sell Feier. He's also one of my favorites but I have two Tradition boys that are better stallion prospects so there you have it. Feier needs to be somebody's riding gelding. The worst part of breeding is having to part with some of them.

Schwentine, by Donaufürst *Ps*E* out of Symphonic by Hailo *Pg*E* - Three year old Fillies, 6th 77.4%

This was Wendy's first time trailering and her first show. I was very impressed with her composure! We used a new to us four horse trailer. When we got to the show the divider between the front and back horses had come down. By the time we got Wendy off and bridled I had maybe 5 minutes before she had to go in the ring. No problem! She handled like a seasoned pro! What a good girl!

I'm working on getting pictures up for you to see. I had a friend take pictures at the show but they are all blurry so I'm taking some current ones of them at home to use. I have attached two. The foal in hand is Diva. The mare loose in the pasture is Wendy.

The judge was Jos Sevriens from Georgia. He had some very good comments good and bad that I thought were very accurate.
