Darren Chiacchia's Ballzauber (Axis / Itaxerxes) is at his very first show under saddle this weekend: the international Trakehner Bundesturnier in Hanover/Germany. That is the biggest Trakehner show of its kind in the world, and features everything from equitation for children to FEI classes in dressage and show jumping all the way to Grand Prix, and also hosts horse trials at training and preliminary level. This is also the event where the new national Trakehner champions will be named and where the Verband will pick the Trakehner representatives for the BUndeschampionat in September (in the riding horse classes).
Today was the first round of the 3yr old stallions. The competition is firce, with many of the NMS 2006 approved stallions shown. The classe was won by the premium Zauberfürst (by Interconti) with 82%, followed closely by Ballzauber with 81% and the premium Krokant (by Lauries Crusador xx), also 81%. There is another round before the championship round on sunday, so please, ATA folks, keep your fingers crossed for our fellow member and soon to be "Home in the US" stallion
Here is a shot from the Handorf Show in February.
