Terribly sad news today. From the website of Jens Meyer where he stood:
His Highness broke his leg in an accident yesterday and in spite of intensive efforts by veterinarians, he had to be put down. His Highness was the celebrated Champion Stallion of the 2000 Hanoverian licensing in Verden and was sold at the stallion auction for the record sum of 515,000 Euros to the American couple, Doug und Louise Leatherdale.
The Hohenstein- Donnerhall son then won his stallion performance test in Prussendorf and was also declared the Champion Stallion at the Danish licensing in Herning. Under the guiding eye of his trainer, Klaus Balkenhol, he won a whole series of tests for young riding and dressage horses. In 2005 and 2006 he placed at the Bundeschampionats in classes for dressage horses. When he turned six, this black stallion's first shows in M/A level dressage tests ended with first place ribbons and he had meanwhile been trained to advanced level. Ten sons from his very first crop were licensed, including two premium stallions, Hochfein and Hendrix, as well as Hoftanz who was sold to Denmark for 120,000 Euros. At the Hanoverian Broodmare Show, His Highness was the sire of numerous show champion mares. Just last Thursday, His Highness' son, Hampton, did a brilliant job at the saddle licensing in Verden. This His Highness son out of a Rotspon/Calypso dam is owned by Doug und Louise Leatherdale.
We look back of five wonderful years with a very special horse. "Heini" we miss you so!
