So, I am in the market for a stallion for my Unkenruff daughter. For those of you who went to Toronto a few years ago, she is full sister to the chestnut stallion that Tylord presented. She is coming 5. I tried to breed her to Summertime last year but she did not conceive so we thought that she was just to immature sexually to take. This year, I am unable to spend that kind of $$ and am looking for a US stallion. I am thinking of Hailo.
Before you respond, two other stallions that I have considered and passed on (reason in parenthasis) are Fandango (foal would be too smart for amature) and Oskar (foal would be too big for amature). Love both these stallions but feel for reasons indicated that they would not be a good cross to this mare.

I would love to know that every horse that I breed will end up in a great home with a caring sensitive rider. However, to ensure that, I prefer to breed horses that do not need "professional" attention. And frankly, some of the hotter stuff is not right for "professionals" anyway. Professionals like to win, they do not like to have to work too hard at it with a difficult horse (unless someone ELSE purchased the horse for them in Europe and is footing the bill!).
Frankly, why should they waste their time fixing other peoples' problems. My goal is talent for the professional, temperament for the amature, with the emphasis on temperament and conformation first.
That said, thanks for the comments. I will continue my research and include Tradition.

Your mare is by Unkenruf, but what's her pedigree on the dam side? And are you looking for more dressage-type breeding or jumper or hunter?
Several interesting Enrico sons. But, if your mare comes from Tylord, then you might not be interested in Enrico relatives.
I'm sort of in that same boat. I have an Unkenruf/Enrico Caruso/Laiken mare!! I just measured her last night and she's 16 H 1/2 inch tall and has probably stopped growing. (Maybe not too relevant, but new data for me!) I'm still fence-sitting with regard to a stallion for her. I want to learn more about Titilus and Schiffon. I may try to go to see Schiffon since he's only about 2 hours away from me...hard to schedule because of work. Completely different stallions, I know. Hence the wobbly perch! But, I don't want a stallion that produces a lot of size either. 16.1 or 16.2 is a fine size, IMHO! Also, not too many offspring of either horse around yet to assess temperament. So, I'm no help to you at all on that issue!!

Just tried a 5 year old Schiffon/Starway-son in Germany. Really comfortable ride, ubelievable calm temperament and quick learner. Goes at 2nd level. Definitely has the "mind for an amateur".

Jennifer,
Titulus has had 2 breeding season's in Germany before coming over. We've had a few responses from the German Breeders and have posted them on our "Titulus Foal Page". Titulus is a young breeding stallion but we have had some "common" remarks from different breeders about their Titulus offspring. Temperament is one (described as "calm" which they think is funny since the offspring are so young!) and Titulus himself has a wonderful temperament. We invite you to visit our website at www.malletbarsalou.com We do have a short clip available for viewing, just email info@malletbarsalou.com
Beckie! I have 3 Oskar foals out of a 16'1 TK mare, one will finish at 16'1+, it doesn't have to be big and all three have awesome temperaments! Look them up, actually I will have better photos as soon as the winter coats shed! Honestly, Oskar is a really great producer for your requirements. Bonsai is in professional training, has the temperament for an amateur and the potential for high level. I saw that stallion Tylord presented in Toronto, a real eyecatcher! I liked him! If I didn't have Titulus, I probably would have continued breeding Oskar to my mare!
Thank you!
Patricia

Great input...and its not even my question originally!!
My plans with my mare this year are to get her inspected and to ride. She seems to have matured physically and mentally in the last few months. So, we'll see what this year brings as far as that goes. My young filly (Oldenburg registry, Pablo/Ramiro's Son) will be 3 next year so I'll have her to start to train then.
For my Trakehner mare, I really like both Titilus and Schiffon. Actually I like them for my Oldenburg filly, too!
