I love Trakehners!

Hi friends,
I will make a vet appt. tomorrow, but was hoping for some advice before then...
One of my mares is leaking a "milky" substance from one of her teats. She is absolutely NOT pregnant - zero possibility. She was a bit agitated at the canter when I rode her yesterday, but other than that she is fine.
What do ya'll think it could be???
Thanks!
Stacey

It could be milk. It's not unknown for mares to produce milk when they're not pregnant or nursing. In fact, I've had mares that produced small quantities of milk for 2 years after weaning. However, it may also be signs of an infection of some kind, but then the question becomes, "why would she have mastitis or any other kind of infection?" Definitely check with a vet, and then let us know, too.
