Toga: born 1948 by Totilas out of Sabine by Manfred, mare family S9A Sabine, Gohlke-Rhededn (Toga-family) She scored 2,3,4/3,3 and stood 16h. She died in 1974 and had a total of 11 foals. 1. 1952 Tora by Gigant 2. 1953 Thea by Gigant 3. 1956 Thora by Gigant 4. 1959 Thor by Humboldt 5. 1960 Heros by Humboldt 6. 1962 Toscana II by Jonkheer xx 7. 1963 Tornado I by Anteil 8. 1964 Toscana IV by Anteil 9. 1966 Tornado II by Anteil 10. 1972 Thronfolger by Amagun 11. 1973 Toga's Letzte by Amagun
Daughter Tora had several foals, among them the gelding Hamlet by Marke's Letzer, who was an advanced level dressage winner. Daughter Thea produced a great number of foals, e.g. Treuburg by Blauspecht xx, winning at 4th level dressage, Trabant by Goldgraf, winning at 3rd level dressage and (funny, funny), a gelding called Texaner by Condus. Daughter Thora had another set of kids, e.g. Mario III by Marcio xx, winning at advanced level dressage and the eventer Therese by Goldgraf. This family has been very fertile and is well represented in the breed today.
A word on Toga's approved sons: Thor was one of the revolutionizing stallions in the Hesse state breed, where he was a state stallion in Dilenburg. His get were well resepcted for excellent ridability and movement, he also had a number of good jumper offspring. Thor was a big and substantial stallion. You all know him through the mare Heraklia, dam of Jean Brinkmann's faboulus Anduc-son Hailo. His other approved son were Mandant, Hagedorn II and Fiothor, among others in the Hesse bred, these were his pure Trakehner sons. Mandant was an equally important son in Hesse, very well respected for producing especially good competition horses for all disciples. His approved Trakehner son Machandel was sold to Poland after approval, where he is a sire for the bred and also a Grand Prix jumper. Toga's next son Heros is a tremendously important horse. Again a tall and very substantial stallion, he won the 1a prize at the DLG in Hannover in 1964. His son Tümmler moved on to become 1) the first Trakehner National Eventing Champion in Germany with Martin Plewa (who later rode Habicht) and 2) founded a strong stallion line via his sons Tenor and Tivano, both elite stallions and both out of Tilsit III by Herzbube. Tenor just presented his last son in NMS, the VERY promising Iffland (out of Idea xx by Motley xx), a half-bred Trakehner of the osrt we don't see them often: very tall (16.3 at 2.5years of age), outstanding type, tremendouly supple and powerful mover in all three gaits. Just VERY VERY nice! Heros also produced the approved Tiparillo and a number of outstanding mares for the breed. Toga's next son Tornado I was the Reserve Champion in NMS and had excellent offspring, his approved sons were Ingo, Polar and Kopernikus. Ingo produced a number of upper level dressage horses. The full brother Tornado II didn't quite reach his sibling's quality and thus never found a strong influence in breeding.
OK, have to work a litte, will be back with more on Memel later.
