Slight brag.... sorry!!!!!
Between one thing and another, the last time I rode Preston was one week BEFORE the Convention (so 2nd to last week in October). This month has been pure hell, and I can not wait to see the end of it... I broke my little toe on Dec 1 (still not 100% on it, and to be in riding boots is NOT fun), I got the killer monster flu thing going around and have been sick for almost 3 weeks, my grandmother (who has stage 4 breast cancer) basically is living on sheer will power at this point (she vowed to make it through Christmas and since the last of her kids/grandkids left today from Seattle it prob won't be much longer), and work has been a beast since November.... so no time for riding (or when there was time, I was broken or sick).
When I rode him last in October, he still had less than 30 days under his belt, so I was a little ummmm.... worried... today, but the sun was shining, it is the weekend (long holiday weekend at that!), and it is 75 degrees out, in other words PERFECT riding weather. I sooooo wanted to ride tonight!!!! I got off work early and was done with the chores that needed attending with about 45 mins of day light left. Tacked Preston up, and since he was a muddy beast from rolling today had about 25 mins of day light by the time I led him to the "arena." Bounced back and forth between "should I ride?" and "should I just lunge?"... finally deceided to heck with it all and lunged for only 5 mins then hopped on. He never once tightned his back, he didn't get stiff, he didn't balk at anything, he didn't do anything wrong. He was light in the mouth, responsive to my leg, and other than pulling a little when I asked for the halt the first couple of times acted like he had been ridden everyday of his life. Lord I love this horse. I have several horses (some even broke that have done upper levels right now), but this is the easiest, best work ethic horse that I have. He blows my mind. Today made ride number 29.

This is why I love this breed... really I didn't post to "brag" about him.. this has been a crappy month all the way around and I just came in off that ride and it just "perked me up" in a way that nothing else can.
He can be such a big dork sometimes, but when it comes to "work" he is all business - and he is just so..... "right" (for me) for lack of a better word, can't describe it.
Someone posted on COTH something about when the breeding is there it just makes it easy (she was referring to the riding aspects for upper level dressage/jumpers, but the sentiment is the same and holds true for the work ethic of our breed! JMHO of course).

Thanks, and yes, I hope there are MANY more rides to come!
Amy - no pictures recently, but I was just asked tonight to ride him in the lecture/clinic thing that our local GMO is having (it is that USDF certification for instructors thing - I guess there are only 2 this year scheduled - someone from CA and CT are coming down to FL for this thing... ) so I guess that is a good thing right?? LOL!

Yup, nothing like a good ride to improve one's mental health.
