I as equally impressed with your rider as I am with the scope and attitude of your stallion. Well done !

Thank you everybody. I was really impressed when I saw the photos. The technique that Tamie is using is one of the methods that Dennis Reiss (sp?) uses. The point is to ride the horse with your seat and legs only, for steering, stopping, turning, everything and the poles are only used if the horse isn't listening to the aids (they don't ever touch the horse, but can be used to stop him or turn him etc.) Pretty amazing.
Hi Sally, yes, he is cantered around, walked around, trotted, stopped on a dime, everything, all just without a bridle. And to answer your other question, Pavi is training with Tamie Smith at a ranch in Temecula called Horsemanship Unlimited. Their website is at www.horsemanshipunlimited.com if you would like to get more info.
Thanks again.

I recall seeing, years ago, a demonstration of a riders' group in Utah, who rode their horses ("Indian ponies") with only a neck strap, which was hardly ever used. Instead they did all the patterns with their arms up or folded, even jumped the horses without touching the neck strap. I'd forgotten all about them until I saw these photos.
This is what I do...in my dreams.

There is one more that is very interesting in many way (balance of the rider, pressure of a regular 1.30m jump oin the front end, etc) and you can find it here:

Absolutely spectacular, Mary. On all parts. I'm very happy to see what I saw in person a few weeks ago is coming along even better than I thought Keep up the good work and best wishes to Tami please!

Wow, M . . . I could have gone a long time w/o seeing the pressure 1.30M puts on the front fetlocks . . . and this is over a single jump (GULP!).
Liked your other comments, though!
