Good to see he's going to a competition home to continue his dressage career this winter in FLA. Will be nice to have this stallion back on the active list in '07.
Know Peggy and her vet husband. He is responsible for the Guy Laroche foal I have on the ground this year. Once he arrives I'll be paying a visit. About 1/2 hour trip
Wow! I just got my Stallion book today (great job!) and saw that he wasn't listed. Then I went to the website and saw that it hadn't been updated for about 2 years. I wondered whether he'd been injured or what. I'm so glad to hear he'll be continuing his career. I remember well when he went through 100 day testing and people were asking "What's this Oldenburg horse doing in the ATA?" <chuckle> And then all those Old/NA folks had to recognize that he was 100% Trakehner.
He's branded Old/NA and tested Old/NA. I had some private correspondence with Beckie in which she said she was going to renew his ATA status, but it was suggested she wait until January. Since he's sold, I wonder if the new owners will even bother. They will IF they get enough inquiries.
Hopefully, the new owners will have a web site that tells what he has been doing, with recent photos of the stallion and as many of his get as they can round up.
I breed to sell and the SO's marketing becomes part of my marketing. If it doesn't stay current, that's a negative for me.
I definitely like a stallion who is out there competing, And the fact that he is taller than the typical ATA stallion is a plus.
I also think a SO has to be aware of the competition for quality mares across all registeries, and what the going stud fees are. The competition of top international stallions available via frozen has brought the stud fees down for cooled semen, with only a few exceptions, IMP. (Windfall and Idocus).
