Winter day
« on: December 02, 2006, 12:55:16 PM »

Winter day in Wisconsin, my truck broke down last night, water pump went & truck died just before home.  Our neighbor who was sledding in his yard with his kids came out and towed it the last few hundred feet home.  This left the truck in an odd position in the snow ladden drive way, even with the help of our teenagers, the snow was too deep to push the truck through to get it out of the way of the driveway to get our cars out of the drive.  With nothing here to push it with, I hooked Shadrach up to the truck and he pulled it the 16 or more feet needed to clear the drive way, wow, were my teens & hubby impressed with Shad!  I have to say, he looked pretty pleased with himself too:

What a tease!  I was hoping for a pic of him actually pulling the truck!   Grin  Nothing I wouldn't do, though.  Our tractor is too small for such jobs in the snow, and the bulldozer isn't running . . .

I'm sure glad the the worst of that storm missed where I live. They told us to look out for up to 8 inches.  We got half an inch.  Hope you get that truck going soon.  Good news is water pumps are easy and not terribly expensive to replace in an old truck.  I've done it (with some help at had in case I ran into bolts I couldn't loosen) twice - luckily in the summer when the wrences won't make your hands brittle . . . . Fuzzy, Actually, Jim was working out on the treadmill while the boys & I hooked Shad up to pull the truck,  Jim ended up opening the deck door & telling us that was far enough, he was afraid we'd pull it too far into the yard to drive out!   Good news is that it looks like the fix on the truck is pretty simple, it was a hose that popped off, and Jim fixed it today, now just to go buy more anti freeze!~ Wink   I did tell Jim that he shoulda snapped a few pictures, though!  He said he was more worried about if it would actually work, considering the depth of the snow & how heavy the truck is!  Shad is a true Trakehner, multi-purpose & ready to get down to work!  Gotta love 'em!!!

Sorry to disapoint about the pulling picture, so here is one of him from his first Christmas~ Wink ENjoy!

Glad the truck was such an easy fix!  And thanks for sharing the great pix.
