Hadrian is wonderful--and the best part about doing business with them is that Gina Crandall is wonderful to work with. I have four Hadrian babies--and believe it or not--I think my two year old is a stallion prospect--the other mares are really nice-their temperament is really quite exceptional-- I have another mare in foal to him--all in all--his owner is great to deal with--his semen is exceptional--and if I didn't have my own stallion--I'd recommend him wholeheartedly

I remember him from his grading in Columbus/Ohio,perhaps 14 years ago?? and presented by Judy Yancey,a very powerful, handsome chestnut by Beaute' (Beaute carried some old,but very proven bloodlines:Prusso by Totilas -Bremen by Humboldt).Hadrian,in my opinion, represents that type of a sire, what we call a "strengthening" one,the opposite of a refiner.Sires of that type the breed need very much as basics for good crossing with TB and arabian genes too.Sherry is the proud breeder and owner of some very impressive offspring by him, good size and bone, very good feet and powerful movers too.Two or three future quality broodmares as well by him.Trakehner type is clear and distinct.Good basics for the future.Erhard

The thing about my Hadrian kids is that they are all wonderful in the temperament department--the two year old filly ( a pinto by the way)--astounded us--I mentioned it was time to think about starting her--my girl saddled her, bridled her, got on a walk trot and canter both directions like she'd been doing it for ever. Even my anglo girl is much more honest than her TB mother--and I can't say enough about Joe. He's honest, easy, and generally an all around good guy--but he is HUGE; and we haven't gelded him, because it just didn't seem necessary. I do have one filly (who I call a great stallion prospect) that is fairly course--but she's a great mover, and will cross well with a refining stallion. I'm actually looking for an eventing home for her--she deserves to be shown. One thing you might be interested in--the great crosses have been out of a Schwalbenzug mare, and two Fabius daughters--who of course, have a Schwalbenzug grandsire

Thanks for all your information Sherry, very interesting about the Schwalbenzug mare, guess you might know I have one ;>)
Erhard, also thanks for your input. Very good information to help in my thought process
I have seen the video both he and his foals look great. I am a bit concerned about the size, however, I have two mares that both are refined so I've been looking at a few of the bigger, heavier guys.

I'm surprised at that reaction--the one thing I have worried about is that they might get too big--Jinx and Joe are both over 16'2"--and they are very late two year olds.. Perhaps I misunderstood you.

:)We are so happy on our purchase of a new mare and are looking forward to breeding to Hadrian, it just now we are waiting until she is old enough, she'll be 3 in 2003. I hope more mare owners breed to him too, he is such a great type of stallion, and one of the few with size. It will be sad when he is no longer breeding.
