Any info on the offspring of these stallions?
« on: November 30, 2002, 02:12:29 PM »

HI guys,

I am planning on breeding a Trak mare this spring and would like some info on the following stallions. The mare has Mandinka and Preussengeist bloodlines. We are hoping to get a brave bold horse that is a good jumper but movement is VERY important. I want a horse that can win the dressage. The mare is more of the longer backed straight through the shoulder moving mare so I am looking at stallions that product more compact uphill babies with loftier movement. Here is what we are looking at:

Donaufurst (didn't see much of his offsrping under saddle on their video)
Hailo- beautiful babies for dressage...what about jumping?
Pennant
Schonfeld
Malachi
Amethyst

Feel free to email me privately at ctrain2000@hotmail.com

Thanks!!

Try Advocate owned by Kim McMillan from Loon Creek Farm.  Our Trakxx mare is very elegant and long and he seemd to give a bit more compactness to the baby particularly in the hind quarters.  She was so correct that she was sold as a weanling.

If you want dressage ability combined with boldness and a good jump, maybe you want to take a look at Windfall or Tzigane?
One is a CCI*** runner with a long history of wins in Germany and the US, a Habicht son out of the German elite TB mare Wundermädel xx by Madruzzo xx. You can find a lot more info on him at www.eventrider.com. And his owner posted a long reply at the topic "Windfall" on this forum, maybe you want to go and read what is there.

Tzigane is much younger and still at the beginning of his career. He is totally beautiful, in this respect a true son of his sire Graditz. His dam Thekoa is a full sister to the approved stallions Tarim and Tempelritter, both by Condus, who is a very important dressage sire in the Trakehner breed, as he is the only stallion representative of the Ramzes AA line in the breed. Ramzes AA founded the most successful dressage line in the history of warmblood breeding, the westfalian and now oldenburg "R" line, with Rubinstein, the 4-times gold medal winner Rembrandt and about 150 approved stallions more, many of them international dressage horses. And while that is the dressage line by Ramzes, he also estabished a highly successful jumping line, one you will recognize in the Holsteiner and westfalian "R" line via Ramiro that also produced olympic show jumpers.
Very similar to the Habicht-sire Burnus AAH, who also managed to produce international show jumper, dressage horses and eventers, only that Ramzes AA had chances in more breeds.
Tzigane is a handsome fellow with a very sound constitution and great work ethics. He is mid-sized, dark bay, jumps very well and will probaby make his 2nd level debute next season. You can view him at www.twingates.com, and also get a very good review of his pedigree.

And while you're there, check out "brood mares". There you will find the bay Hennie, a daughter of Münchhausen, who like Mandinka is a member of the very rare Moosbeere family!

Looking at your mare's pedigree, I would say that both Windfall and Tzigane are interesting as they offer "connections" to the Arab background in your mare. Mandinka's sire Polarwind was a son of the very important grey Parole by Doktryner ox, a direct descendant of the Polarfahrt family. Through Igor and Persaldo, you get interesting linebreeding to Pregel (as Persaldo's dam Perpetua was a full sister to Pregel). More Arab background comes through Mandinka's great-grandmother Mickeymaus by Famulus, a son of Fetyz ox, and foundation sire of the Trakehner breed's most powerful dressage line through Maharadscha.
With Preussengeist on the bottom, you then could have the Famulus blood again.
A cross with Habicht-blood would inbreed to Handschelle, both Habicht's and Handelherr's grandmother (Handelherr is the sire of Preussengeist's dam Bartenstein).

Check the two and keep us posted, there are so many interesting stallions out there and choices are always hard to make! Good luck!!
