Frodo's all grown up! (pics)
« on: August 10, 2006, 10:24:00 AM »

Frodo is now three and thinks he is a hot-shot big boy now.  I started him under saddle myself and he was a dream to start.  It is larger than life riding my boy, the one I bred, raised and have been training myself.  My friend took pics of him modelling his new saddle and during turnout after his liniment bath.   Hopefully soon I will have some under saddle pics of him.  He is coming along nicely and I am so proud and so thrilled with him.  I am also excited because I may have found a new trainer.  My present trainer is far away and it is difficult for her to get out to my barn on a regular basis as she works also.  I really like working with her, but I need someone out on a more regular basis.

Any way, here is Frodo modeling his new saddle.  Smiley

Here is my boy enjoying his liniment bath.  He was funny after his first liniment bath, he was not sure what that tingling feeling was.  Cheesy

The last photo is the VERY scarey one.   Shocked  The photo quality is BAD because it had to be zoomed in so much, but, you get the point.  I hope I never have to ride that.  Shocked

Amy,

He looks great!  Congratulations on raising such a good boy! Good luck with the new trainer and I'm looking forward to seeing some of those under saddle photos.  I wish you were closer so that I could come see him in person.  Keep us posted on his progress!

That bucking photo reminded me of a time I face-planted when my Pregelstrand mare spooked and bucked.  I was thrown and, as I said, face planted (thank goodness for my helmet that day--didn't save my lip but it sure saved my head!), and the mare went down as well.  A few days later, as I was watching her out in the field, all the horses started kicking up their heels and Pscilla gave an ENORMOUS buck in play.  I was in AWE!  All I could think of is, "THAT'S what I was riding? No wonder I didn't stay on!"

Frodo is looking wonderful.  Congratulations to you, Amy!

Thank you!  He has been under saddle since the very end of March.  He doing do quite well at the beginning stage of his riding "career".  He seems to like the trails, so long as he doesn't have to go through water.  He will go, but he doesn't like it. LOL

He looks wonderful Amy!  So, when are you going to come start Sindarin?  I've sat on her and am lunging but that's about it.  Satinka will be old enough to start  by the time I get Sindarin going!   Roll Eyes
