Looking for a hunter/jumper prospect
« on: July 03, 2006, 11:28:39 PM »

I saw this on the Dynamite forum that I read sometimes.  What a perfect opportunity to promote our wonderful Trakehners!  If anyone has a horse that fits the bill, email Karen.  (I'm just the messenger, and I don't even know Karen.)

hunter/jumper prospect wanted
This is via email today from Karen Schultheis, D Director in Hawaii......

Molly and I just got back from California where we saw about 15 horses. If you remember from our conversation/communication months ago, Molly has outstripped the abilities of her much-loved paint quarter horse and we are searching for another horse to take her farther with her jumping and equitation. Well, the trip had many good aspects but ended up with a horse which was really great being sold out from under her. It was a surprising and frustrating experience. I am trying to focus on the adages "Everything happens for a reason" and "The Universe is perfect just as it is." Most of the time I am successful on staying positive about it.
I want to, once again, ask for your help referring me to someone who is a prominent trainer who might be able to help me find Molly's next horse. The trip helped clarify the specific requirements Molly is looking for.
Here they are:

1. A gelding or mare between the ages of 5 and 9
2. Trained to the point that it is doing lead changes and is doing a bit of jumping
3. A warmblood or thoroughbred between 16 and 17 hands
4. Able to do hunter, equitation, and some dressage (my friend suggested that a 3-day eventer would fit the bill, although we would not do jumping outside of an arena)
5. Really nice movement and able to be collected into a very nice dressage frame
6. Sound enough to pass a vet check with no obvious flaws like lameness, poor feet, etc.

Ideally I'd like a Dynamite horse or one from people who have a holistic approach with minimal worming, vaccinating, injections, etc.

Thanks, Joy, I sent them information on Ella's sister, Melika.  She is a super nice mare, and seems to fit the bill.  Not sure if she is on Dynamite, though I know her sister, Polar's Pearl is a good rep of Dynamite.  Best wishes to her in her search!!!
