Finally enough time has passed for me to recoop post Equine Affaire East. The American Trakehner Associations first booth ever at this event was a fabulous sucess! We fielded a variety of questions from "How do you pronouce that?" to do you know of any stallions or horses for sale. We also got a chance to talk to a lot of Trakehner and Part Trakehner owners and were encouraged by the large number of people that visited the booth excited to see us there. It was a lot of work and certainly those of us organizing it couldn't have done it without the generous help of sponsors and volunteers.
First on the list of generous donors is fellow board member Equine_Connection aka Hawk's Run Trakehners of Huntington, MD, owners of Happy Hour (http://www.happyhour1.com/). Happy Hour is sired by the German Bundeschampion stallion, Induc, who earned scores of 10's for rideability, trainability and movement. Happy continues the world-class legacy of his predecessors in producing top quality offspring who possess lovely, kind and very willing temperaments, and also by his own under-saddle and in-hand performance. We were excited to be able to represent such a high quality stallion at the booth.
-Jim & Sue Pitzer of Burnt Tree Farm of Avella, PA (board member?) -Lori Whitney of Rolling Thunder Sporthorses, in Medford, OR (board member?) -Ann Marie Gregoire - Bristol County Horseman's Association of Rehoboth, Mass. (http://www.bcha.aasp.net) - Jeanne Gilbert of Gilbert's Bed & Breakfast (http://members.aol.com/glbrtsbb/) - Karen Norton of Chestnut Ridge Trakehners in Ashford, CT, owner of the stallion, Seydlitz - Claire Ann Oakley of Williamstown, MA (owner of Tatiana (Anna) and Amadeus Amatus). - Katja Eilers of CT (http://www.katjaeilers.com/)
Thank you to all our sponsors - we were amazed at the cost associated with the booth and couldn't have done it without you! The breed demo was a huge sucess. Even though we chose the relatively quiet time slot on Thursday afternoon for our first year, we had a large number of people come by the booth that said they had never seen a Trakehner before and were hooked! The riders went to a lot of trouble to bring their horses and they represented the breed well. We had 4 ATA-registered horses presented in the breed demo (in order of go):
- Ann Marie Gregoire riding her mare, Wonnige Dame - Brenda Hobbs' mare Larushelle, ridden by Adam Cropper - Katja Eilers riding her gelding, Anflug (Smokey) - Karen Norton's stallion Seydlitz, ridden by Jeryl O'Keefe
Thank you to all those listed above and the volunteers below that made this possible!
- Dawn and Jeff Quimby - Suzie Kent - Colleen Hoard - Maryann Hoard - Ann Marie Gregoire - Linda Grandbois and her husband - Theresa Hawley and her kids - Charlotte Mc Auley

Thanks for the report! Linda Grandbois (husband Ed!) was very enthusiastic about the event and said the ATA booth had been a big success.
