Does anyone here have Hailo babies?  After seeing the one at the WI Inspection, I am intrigued by him and would like to see more of his offspring.

I don't have a Hailo baby, but I do have a Hailo GRANDBABY that I'm planning on presenting in Nov....

Impressionist (the Hailo approved son) is just up the road from me.

Hailo is by Anduc, who is by Marduc... the Anduc/Marduc line is pretty consistent in stamping their offspring with pretty heads, pretty necks (or at least improvements on the dam  Wink) and they are very trainable/rideable.  Impressionist is a DOLL - he LOVES attention and I would trust a small child alone with him.  My mother who knows NOTHING about horses and is scared to death of them, held him and backed him out of the trailer when we arrived at Houston last year (after a VERY long trailer ride), then held him off the trailer while Joe ran around to get things arranged for him.  this is the only horse that mom actually feels comfortable holding!

My Hailo grandson (by Impressionist) is also a love - he is young and will occasionally have a "hormonal" moment, but they are fewer and fewer now as he is "ageing" and he has apparently inherited the same rideability/trainability that all the other "kids" have - his first ride was a DREAM.

Jean stands Hailo and has gotten him to GP in dressage, although his offspring are also successful in eventing, dressage, hunters and jumpers.

Can you tell that I love this line?  Grin

I visited Vallhalla about 10 years ago to look at Hailo.  While I have not yet, (see yet)  bred to him, I was highly impressed and would definitely encourage you to investigate.  I was intrigued as well and still see nothing to discourage me.   Just looking for the right mare and timing.  He is Nice and did not disappoint in person.  Also, I liked the babies.....

Good luck.  Sound like a trip to FL is in order!!!

acottongim, Beckie, thanks for the information.
I have thought about that trip to FL, and considering the airfares are so cheap to there, I am sure
I can figure out how to make it a family trip, or just a quick trip for me and Jim, (which sounds even better).  One of the things Kevin said about his Hailo colt was that he had an impressive canter.  Anyone have comments on the canter from that line?  I typically do not like to double up lines in a pedigree, unless it is thought out that the doulbed horse brings in something much desired, and in this case the doubled horse would be fairly farther back.  We would be doubling Intermezzo in the fourth and fifth generation, and I like that type, combined with the Arabian influence.  Of course, if you went back a dozen or more generations, I am sure there would be doubling the foundation lines of Trakehnen, as well as Impuls, Harfa, Humbolt and Totilas.  It will be hard to nearly impossible for me to find the 'right' stallion and not have the similiar lines.  Though, in the immediate pedigree, doubling Intermezzo/Oxyd would be fine with me. And I have always loved Historia, and thought Ella looked like her, so it would be pleasing to have her in the Pedigree through Marduc.  Sorry to ramble, I am going to have to start stashing away for a breeding fee... Yep, strong walks and canters - even in the grandbabies (I really give credit to Anduc, maybe Marduc for these traits).

Come to FL!  You can make a big trip of it, see Hailo (and the other studs at Valhalla), come to Panama City, see Impressionist and Oskar at Joe's, and also see my colt, Emerald Impressions... Then you can really see how the generations are (and also see some other studs out there...).  I am about an hour north of PC, and I'm about 3 or MAYBE 4 hours from Jean's - l admit I haven't been there so am not positive on the drive time.  But come to PC (the beach!) and I'll drive you around to the horses that are in this area.

While we don't know Hailo personally, we are very familiar with his bloodlines and have a stallion by Induc, who was sired by Marduc (Anduc's brother).  And we've had extensive experience with this lineage. They are known for possessing excellent gaits & movement, in addition to their superb rideability and trainability and performance - wonderful minds.  Certainly a fellow to research further.  Very best wishes with your breeding endeavors.   Smiley

Does Happy also have a little roaning on him???  It is strange but most of the Impressionist "kids" have a small (very small) bit of roaning on them somewhere - as does Imp himself.  I also know a stud out of a paint mare by Hailo that has roaning on him, and Joe said that he thought that the roaning came from the Anduc/Marduc lines - just wondering if Happy did that too???

No.  I have not ever noticed any roaning on Happy.  He's got a few scant white hairs at the bulb of one heel, but that's about it -- BUT, he does have lots of dapples!   Wink
