Big Brag on my colt! He was "broke" to ride today!
« on: July 01, 2006, 02:40:52 PM »

We finally got someone on my colt today - I say finally because it just seems like forever ago when he was born until today!

I had this little slip of a young lady get on him and it was SUCH A NON EVENT - I swear he acted for all the world like this was the millionth time that he has been rode. He was actually BORED when she was getting on him - he had one hip cocked and was going to sleep! LOL! He walked, trotted, and did a little bit of canter. He never once tensed his back, thought about bucking, scooted forward or did anything else "naughty"! I am so proud of him that I could bust! The absolute worst thing that he did was he shook his head towards the end when he didn't want to work anymore (typical stud colt), but with a little leg he continued on with no more complaints. A car drove up rather fast near the round pen while he was trotting and he didn't even blink an eye.

The girl riding him has broke several other geldings, colts, and fillies that are by the same stallion and they all have been easy to break according to her, but she also said that he was by far the easiest and most nonchalant about the whole thing. EVeryone was amazed that he was truely as good as he was - we were expecting a little bit of something LOL! He was better behaved than my 24 year old gelding was at a show a couple of weeks ago!

OH, and Lori also said that he has "great gaits" very smooth, very "up". His walk is swinging and big, his trot was smooth and will be easy to sit, lots of push from the engine, and his canter was "perfect" per her - very round, rocking horse, up and big!
