Hohenstein very consistently produced greatest ridability, dark colors and good type, but is not necessarily the typical refiner. his sire Caprimond is more of that. In many of Hohenstein's get, you can see Matador's influence come through.
There is an Eyler's video of Trakehner stallions in Germany, which is a little older, but shows Hohenstein as young stallion. And even better, the 2002 Gala Show video of the Trakehner approvals in germany, which you can order in NTSC format, shows Hohenstein in a Pas de Deux with Caprimond and about 6 of his sons and daughters. An amazing document!

Both Caprimond and Hohenstein have done outstanding things with the Hannovarians. The new "star" in that respect is now Latimer (by Saint Cloud-Neuquen xx, out of a Caprimond dam), who is a stunninh black stallion and the 2000 National Riding Horse Champion in Germany. He is very popular in Hannover right now.

As a definite refiner I recommend taking a look at Connery (Buddenbrock-Karo As), who is also liscensed in Hannover and covered an insame amount of Hannovaran mares in Germany this past season.

Maren,
Can you order one of the Hohenstein videos for me, too?  Since I have a granddaughter, I'd be interested!

Hi,you all,I am happy to be back,so helpless and frustrated in the last days with broken drivers on my system (think,I am much better with my stable work!!!).Yes,we all can be so proud on this magnificient black boy.Again he is the leading Trakehner sire (16th) of the german ranking list of the most sucessful sires of the whole breeds(please translate that horrible word "Zuchtwertschätzung",Maren, please!!) with a score of 153 in dressage.I am not such a friend of these lists,but......This year was one of his best in his carreer:sire of the champion of the hanoverian grading this year:His Highnees has been sold for 515.000 € to USA,but will stay a bit longer here. His grandson by Münchhausen has been graded two days ago during the westphalian grading;an impressive, most powerful, strong grey with a lot of presence.I liked him a lot.And Hohenstein deserved it to become "stallion of the year" this year in neumünster - especially watching his daughters and sons there in the spotlight. He is an ambassador for the Trakehner breed, the best one since Abglanz and Lateran in the warmbloods.
