TANZBRISE by Windfall out of Tariana
|
I am thrilled to report the arrival of our first 2006 foal, which is I believe the first palomino Anglo-Trakehner!
At 5:30 this morning Tanzelfe (Kaspareit-Tariana by Graditz) delivered a big, strong baby boy by the TB stallion Guaranteed Gold. This kid is delightful!
Here are a couple pix at 10 hours... Look at the hindy on this boy!

A boy! I thought your mares only had fillies--well, except for Tarathimic (sp?). A big congratulations even though I didn't win the baby pool.

Haha, this is the third colt we have had I had an inkling at the first vet check when the size of the embryo was a couple days older than I expected...Elf went ahead and ovulated early on us. I was still thinking it could be a filly--after all, I told Elf that was what she was supposed to do--but this little scooter is hard to complain about
Maybe with everyone else getting so many fillies, it's our year for colts? Time--and the next 4--will tell

Congrats!! I don't know much about palomino coloring. Will he stay this light or will he darken? He is beautiful, whichever color he will be.

Congrats Ingrid! He's lovely and what a gorgeous color. My stallion manager had a palomino Feuer colt last year and he was also a peachy color which turned into a very metalic deep gold. And yes, the white mane/tail comes in later which I didn't know either.
Have you named him yet? Naming the golden ones is particularly fun I think.
Congrats again and hopefully the next one will be a filly. Have Heather ship you some of her water to give the mare before foaling

Congratulations Ingrid! (thought that I would join and *officially* congratulate you on your new arrival!
yes - as I mentioned to you last night and others have mentioned as well, these "peachy" coloured palomino's with the peachy mane and tails tend to shed out (eventually!) to the prettiest, deepest, golden palomino's imaginable. With the snow white manes and tails (eventually!) as well ...
Looking at his hocks, he is going to be a BIG boy when he is done growing! GG tends to throw a lot of substance to his foals and add your lovely mare to the equation, this guy is going to be a knockout ...
With so many nice Trakehner stallions available to breed to, thank you again for taking the chance on breeding 2 of your mares to Guaranteed Gold! I really appreciate it ...
All the very best with him!

Thanks again everyone! It is so fun to have a baby here again!
We have named him Tango d'Or ("Golden Tango"), which seemed like a fitting name for a son of the "dance elf", Tanzelfe. I set up a page for him with some new pix from today http://atrakehner.com/tangodor.html
Oakstable, he measured 42 inches yesterday afternoon. He is as tall as Tarythmic was (now about 17h and still growing) but with more muscle development at birth. He is the biggest (and surely the heaviest) baby we have had yet! But mama Elfi is about 16.2 and, as Sam Eidt said at her inspection, "that's a big mare."
Twingates, he actually looked light chestnut when he was born and still wet! Elfi didn't seem fooled--she knew he was her baby boy
TrueColours, great to see you on here and thanks for the well wishes. Thanks, also, for the insider tips on how the palomino color develops! As I said, I was pleasantly surprised to see the depth of color on his body already, but thought there would be more definition between the body and mane/tail coloring.
Jennifer Oettle, I don't think I should let Heather come here anymore. She visited and now she got fillies and I got a colt!
Thanks again everybody!

Ha ha!!!
That reminds me of the first time Sarah Dekker (who owns GG) had one of these dark, peachy coloured palomino's born and she called me and said "I KNOW it HAS to be palomino, but geez - it sure looks like a light chestnut to me!!"
And he turned out to be the most gorgeous, deep dappled gold palomino imaginable!
Gwen Gregorio over in Germany, who has been breeding dilutes for quite a while said the same thing - she found that these dark foals with the dark mane and tail at birth developed into the darkest, dappled palomino's once mature, so we all learned something!
And yes - the GG kids DO tend to be big! VERY big - even out of some genetically smaller mares like Arabs and Morgans where the genetic base is in the 14-15hh range
All the best with him again - he looks just stunning!

Hi Ingrid
I have someone coming the beginning of June to look at all of our kids and they were blown away by your colt and wanted to see him too ...
Then they were VERY disappointed to hear that he was not at our farm - but at yours instead!
They are very interested in seeing a video of him, so hopefully you can do one up to send to me ...
Thanks!

Some new pictures of "little" Tango D'Or!
He is 17 months old and 16 hands in the back (but only 15.2+ in the front... )
