Hi everybody. I haven't been able to post for quite a while. It has been a rotten year, and in addition to that, we lost a foal, then a mare and foal (I will spare the details). But I am so happy to say that things are definitely looking up now!

Please welcome our newest colt by our Trakehner stallion Pavarotti (Enrico Caruso x Donaufurst) and out of our champion Arabian sporthorse mare Windsong. The pic was taken today (he is three days old). We are super happy with this cross. He is such a cutie pie. Grin

Even tho the Arabians are smaller, I have noticed that the leg ratio is rather long.

My mare Lucy had a foal by a Polish Arabian and he is perfectly proportioned, tho small.

He looks like he is keeping his foot on the gas pedal! Out and about and ready to explore his wide world.
I (no shocker here) Love the Arab-Trakehner cross, and the possiblities it opens up to the next generation, by bringing in that % of Arabian blood into full Trakehner pedigrees. Look forward to seeing more Arab-Trakehner foals by your Pavorotti! He looks like a doll.

We are very pleased that he and his dam are healthy and happy. He was turned out today for the first time as we wanted to give his tendons some time to tighten up - he definitely took advantage of his new surroundings and gave his momma a run for her money!

His dam is a 15.2 hand Arab mare that was undefeated in every show we took her to. Her movement is so fluid and elastic, and her canter, well, its wow. Her son seems to have it too.

And Eclipse, I agree with you. I too love the Arab/Trak or Trak/Arab cross. I have been watching your posts about your super lovely stallion - you have every right to be proud about him. His foal you posted about is also super! Yep, Traks and Arabs - Best of both worlds. Cool

Thanks so much and hope everybody has a wonderful foaling season. Oh, here is another pic - sorry Ingrid, after losing two foals and a mare, I can't help but post happy pics.

I am sorry, but in your first post you describe your newest addition as cute as a bugs ear, that caught my attention, that is my mare's registered name, she is the dam of my Anglo Trakehner gelding. Cheesy

That just caught my attention, I know, I am a dork.

He is adorable and I agree with the Arab/Trak cross. Most of the ones I have seen have been LOVELY and VERY athletic. Congratulations. He is so VERY cute!

Congratulations! He certainly is in high gear, isn't he? I, too, love the Arab/TK cross, and it sounds like you really were in line for some joy in your life. What will you name him?

First of all, Happy Mothers Day to all (two legged and four legged)!!!

Thanks so much for the wonderful comments everybody! He is still going strong, momma is well (and very protective) and we look forward to seeing him grow. I would also like to catch a peak of that illusive trot of his. He just goes from walk to run in the blink of an eye. Even though he is so expressive when turned out, handling him is quite easy and noneventful, he is so nice to work with and stands for his navel dip and us just fawning all over him. Wink

We are definitely going to do this cross again.

We haven't quite decided on a name yet, and are looking at both W and P names that may fit. I will let you all know when we have narrowed the choices down a bit. :-) Any suggestions? Grin

It ought to be something musical--to match Pavorotti and Windsong.

Mary, I'm so happy for you! This littl guy's adorable, and I LOVE his obvious energy and athleticism. Very, very nice cross. Are you going to repeat it?

p.s. Looks like another inspection will be closer to you this year; are you taking Pavoratti?

Thanks again everybody. He and momma are still doing quite well and we are just so happy with them. We are planning on doing the cross again this year. We were thinking of naming him Wasabi (kind of goes along the same theme as Habanero - our colt from last year). My daughter suggested Perfect Song, or Pavarotti's Song. Still haven't quite decided on anything though.

We are planning on taking Pavarotti to the inspection this year. He is currently in eventing training and we hope he will be fit and ready for the inspection. Keep your fingers crossed for us please. Grin

I'll keep you all posted about our next Arab/Trak foal. That one is due in June.
