I LOVE Trakehners!

Nicky was euthanized yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, 05.17.06) at the Texas A & M Vet School. He had developed a swelling on his chest between his front legs, which turned out to be lymphoma. There is no cure, and there was no need to cause him anymore pain, so we put our dear boy to sleep. Judy and I are devestated by the loss of our young (3 year old) stallion, stopped before he had really gotten started.
Nicky was on his way to breeding at least eleven mares this year. He had bred three of our mares, one confirmed in foal and two going for ultra sounds on Saturday. He has another confirmed mare in the Austin area, and Fred Rockhold at BetaRock has two bred but not yet ultra sounded. We apologize to the remaining mare owners for the problems this has caused them.
Eileen and Wallace at Meadowview have graciously offered the services of any of their three handsome stallions for any of our mares not yet covered and are taking care of Fred's remaining mares for us. I want to thank them publicly for their wonderful offer and help. It is very much appreciated.
Sherry Turino (my adopted sister) has offered frozen Pyatt Charly semen to us and since Nicky's mom is currently open, we will probably do it. I also want to thank her for this incredible offer!
Judy and I are still numb. He was such a significant part of our life, and now there is a HUGE hole in our hearts! Please keep us in your thought and prayers as we start the healing process.

Oh my God Judy and Steve! I am so sorry - I know that the both of you must be devasted, I know how you felt about him! My heart is breaking for you both and you are in my thoughts and prayers. God speed Nicky!

We are so sorry for both you and Judy. He was such a nice boy and he will be missed. He was a great addition to the breed and anyone would have been proud to own him or breed to him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Steve and Judy, I am so sorry to read about your loss. I loved the way Nicky related to Judy during the inspection and thought what a thrill it must be to raise, train and present your own young stallion for approval. I know you are devastated, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Oh Steve & Judy, how terribly terribly sad I am for you two.
We try our best to do right by our lovely and loved horses, and then something like this happens.
So often we owners put all our praise toward our beloved horses, but all of us understand that it takes a large heart and great character to deal with the sad, non-controlable events of horse-ownership.

What terrible news! Truly heartbreaking and sad that both this promising colt and his sire were lost at such a young age. Let's hope all of the mares he bred will deliver healthy foals to carry on the line.
