DSLD in Trakehners??
« on: May 04, 2006, 11:25:53 PM »

I'm not absolutely certain, but I suspect that my Trakehner mare has degenerative suspensory ligament desmitis (DSLD).  This condition is heritable.  Has anyone else seen this in this breed?  It is most common in Peruvian Pasos, but it has been seen in TB's and "european breeds."

You might want to check out this link.  According to the authors, there are other suspensory problems that appear similar to DSLD, and proper diagnosis is important.

I've never heard of it in Trakehners, but I'd never heard of it at all under your post, so that probably doesn't mean a thing.
