It's a colt!!
« on: March 25, 2006, 06:20:03 PM »

It's a colt  Grin-- born St.Patrick's Day to Phantyne and Donaufurst!!  One very large and very red-headed boy.  Although he is foal #8 for Phantyne, he is very independent and leads his mother a merry chase. Shocked

Looking for names that start with "P" and maybe have something to do with St Pat's (?)

Will post pics as soon as I can figure out how.

Congrats Eileen!!!!

I never get to name P-babies...how about:

Padraig, Padraic
both Gaelic for Patrick;

Pearse, Pearce, Pierce
all for Peter;  the baby book says "Comes from the Norman French name "Piers" and is still very popular as it is given to honor Patrick Pearse, one of the leaders of the Easter Rising of 1916 when Ireland won its independence from England."  Sounds like yours is an independent one Wink

Phelan, Gaelic ("Brave as a wolf");

Proinsias for Francis

Congratulations!!!  Can we come see him???  Dan said he was HUGE!!!

I like "Piers" and "Phelan" but Phelan is already taken.

What about Panfilo, Paulus, Paxton, Pegaso, Pelagio, Pikachu, Poseidon, or Proteus?

Wow!  Shocked   Thanks for all the names.  Lots to consider

Yes, Kari, you and anyone that wants to come see him is more than welcome.  You know how we all love to show off our "kids".

Yes, he is a big boy.  You know how most colts are a little ribby right at first and have to fill out a little -- not this boy.  He looked a couple of weeks old instantly.  He isn't quite as tall as Phalanx was, but he is certainly a lot heavier.  And he was 11 days early.

He is sooooo independent.  I keep telling Wayne that he is one the wolves would get were they in the wild.  He just does not stay near Mom at all.  Just wanders over to check out people, dogs, whatever he feels like doing.  She watches him like a hawk.

If you don't mind, my daughter would appreciate any comments you have about the pic as she has an interest in photography.

Thanks in advance,
Eileen

It's a lovely photo.  A little more brightness (less exposure) would have enhanced it.

First of all, this is a lovely photo!  I'm w/Joy - the photo gets a bit "too soft" at the edges and you lose some of the ears

That's a 'ticky tacky' point; overall I'd love to have a photo this wonderful of any of my horses!

The lighting is wonderful.  If you could just sharpen up baby it would be perfect.  It's something I'd like to paint though!

Thanks for all the comments.  Wendy took this with her cell phone.  Does anyone know if you can import photos from cell phones into adobe to work on them?

I love the photo and Wendy and I agree that it could be a little sharper.  Hope some of you computer gurus can tell us how to fix it.

Thanks, again,
Eileen

If she can do that with a cell phone, imagine what she can do with a camera!  If you go to www.komando.com, and do a search, you may be able to find out able importing photos from the cell phone to the computer.  I'm sure it can be done.

I suspect with a real camera, the photo would be sharper.  Unfortunately, what I've experienced with the sharpening tools in Adobe and other programs is that you can sharper a little, but each time gets a little grainier.

Remember how sick my boy was when he was first born?  Here he is at 6 months.

The mare is a little over 16h to give you an idea of his size.  Know it isn't the best pic. -- Hard to find level ground around here -- so I thought I'd help out the situation and stand them downhill -- at least you can't say I'm trying to make him look uphill!!-- Of course, he is, as you can still tell from the photo.

Wow, Eileen!  He's looking wonderful!  He certainly did come back from a shaky beginning.  I'm glad to see how great he looks.  Cheesy
