Trakehners rule
|
 First foal of the year for me! On Saturday morning Dahlia decided it was time and on day 323 she foaled out a healthy bay colt. Dam and colt are doing fine and I'll be posting pictures very soon.
Had a few tense moments but Dahlia is a experienced pro and in the end everything came out fine 
He is a leggy bay with two white hinds and a small front white sock. Now going through the name game for 'D', so far I've gotten a few suggestions:
DaRoche - barn name rock
Duc Laroche - barn name Duke
Der Trakehner - barn name Dirk (although I don't think this can be used as it has Trakehner in the name)
and so far my feeble brain came up with
Deringer - cause he's a little pistol 
Welcome more for the list as right now he's nameless

I also like geographic names so I would consider Denver, Dallas, Detroit, Denmark, Denali and Dakota. Not sure if any of these are taken.

Congrats, and another vote for Deringer! Also a suggestion - Dionysus (sp?) - god of wine. Almost used that on my gelding a few years back, but he's Descartes (barn name "Wiley" )instead.

Don't worry Maren will get better shots soon so you can see the whole package. Hopefully we'll have a nice day this weekend and I can get them and the camera out together
Barb - Dahlia isn't going anywhere, ever. I notice another thread on this board about Dahlie - full sister to my Dahlia and a model mare.
