Help Name the Farm - Part 2
« on: January 01, 2005, 09:25:01 PM »

Sorry to trouble everyone again, but need your final input!  Please pick your favorite.

The original land deal fell apart as the owner changed property lines 2 weeks before closing.  He didn't like the placement of my barn  Tongue.  Months of back and forth for nothing.  However, it turned out to be a blessing!  We found another parcel that is just beautiful and mom, grandma & I like it much better.  Everything happens for a reason, right?

Here's an explanation for Talisman Farm/Trakeher:
Mom/Grandma last name starts with Tal.  My last name begins with S and ends in man.

Closing in 10 days and we need a name!

What a great way to start 2005!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

I think you already have a great name.  Talisman Trakehners? (or Talisman Farm Trakehners) How could you do better?

So far it looks as if it'll be Talisman.
Thanks to everyone who responded.

Well, I answered your post on COTH, but seems like most people on COTH don't think you should add Trakehners to the name.  Now that I am posting on a Trakehner board, I feel like I am amongst friends. Wink  I say Talisman Trakehners. Wink

Thanks all for the comments!

Talisman it is!  And now that "I'm among friends": the word Trakehner will definitely be in it!

Come on, the people on COTH (except for one...) didn't really seem ANTI-Trakehner.  They just said they didn't know how to spell it.  And in fact, they didn't.   Roll Eyes

But that is nothing new--haven't we all had people's eyes glaze over when they have to write the word?  I have given up and just fill in my own invoices at the feed store and so on. Of course preceding Trakehner with "Tannenwald" doesn't help; in fact, once I talk someone through Tannenwald I usually just cut them some slack and tell them to put "Inc" instead of "Trakehner"  Wink

It is rather funny when I am asked what kind of horses I have.  I start off easy and say one of them is a TB, and they respond with, "Oh yes, WOW, a TB.  I love TBs."  Then they ask what the second one is and I tell them he is an Anglo Trakehner, the response is either a blank stare or "Anglo Trake-n-whah?"   I remember though, when I was young and I saw Abdullah on TV at the Olympics, having a hard time with the name.  (I fell in love with them because of that fabulous horse, I will never forget him)  I was about 9 years old, or so, and I practiced and practiced spelling Trakehner and saying it over and over again.  To spite all of that, I still think Trakehner at the end is a good idea! Wink  (I am such a loyal fan of the Trakehner, and the TB.)

Katamount, I am so thrilled for you!  Enjoy!
