any tips on coping with an empty pasture?
« on: December 23, 2004, 07:28:34 PM »

Today I  moved my two horses to a friend's place so I can  ride through the winter, and I already miss them.  Still have the sheep and llama here, but that just doesn't cut it . . . .  Undecided

They seem to like the new digs, though.  They have a QH, a pony, and a huge steer for buddies.  Tongue

I've been dealing with this one for about 5 years.  When I moved to Maine from Colorado, my horses went to my parents' place, which has 30-40 acres of pasture.  I have 72 acres of woodland, so it just seemed like a reasonable thing to do.  I get to check up on my parents (in their 80's) without them knowing it, my horses are happy--and I look out my window and never see them.  How to deal with it?  Just keep reminding yourself of the ultimate goal.  For you, that's being able to ride.  It gets easier--but there's always that little tug at the heart.
